WOMEN WARRIORS HAUNT EACH PAGE. You’ve never read an anthology like this one!

Not only are we highlighting twenty-one authors, but everyone involved in this project, including the artists—all are military veterans.

Within these pages of exceptional stories, poems, and art, you will find experienced writers alongside remarkable, fresh voices in horror. They bring to the page classic horror as well deeply haunting issues such as domestic violence, suicide, the trauma of war, loss, and the emotions entwined in these topics, weaving terrifying tales that bring us together in our humanity. Women warriors who express what we fear speaking about with others, carrying the pack of societal burdens, at home and on the battlefield of life. Half of the stories have accompanying illustrations by U.S. Marine Corps veteran and combat artist, Elize McKelvey. Are you brave enough to venture forward? Open the spine if you dare.

Sirrah MedeirosSirrah Medeiros served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985 to 1990, trained as a Marine Water Dog. The experiences in water purification inspired her toward environmental studies, and she later graduated from the University of Maryland with honors. After many military moves and career changes, Sirrah retired from defense work as a program manager and technical communicator during the Covid epidemic. She now pursues her passions as a writer, editor, and anthologist of dark fiction, and is the editor-in-chief of Tundra Swan Press. Sirrah is the author of the Cristiane Bradford dark urban fantasy series—the most recent in the series, Secrets of Mother, was a 2022 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award winner. Along with The Haunted Zone, Sirrah released a zombie novella titled The Malediction Plague in April 2024. You can learn more about her at

Tara MoellerTara Moeller lives in Norfolk, Virginia with her husband of 31 years, David, and their brindle Bullmastiff, Delilah. She served in the United States Navy from 1991 through 1997 as an electronics technician, honorable discharging after the birth of her and David’s only child. Serving aboard the Norfolk Naval Base, she and her husband made the area their home for almost thirty years.

After leaving active duty, Tara attended Old Dominion University, ultimately obtaining a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in English. Upon graduation from ODU in 2000, she started work as an editor for Naval Facilities Engineering Command in the Criteria Office. In late 2007, she started work as a technical editor at Operational Test and Evaluation Force and now works at its sister command, Marine Corps Operational Test and Evaluation Activity, out of Quantico, Virginia.

Tara has published several short stories in various anthologies, novellas, and a full-length novel—not all of them horror, but they do have horror elements. When not writing or working, you will find her reading or wire-wrapping jewelry.

Pamela K. KinneyPamela K. Kinney joined the U.S. Army in 1976, when the military was no longer drafting, but had become an all-volunteer force. She gave up long ago trying not to listen to the voices in her head and has written award-winning, bestselling horror, fantasy, science fiction, poetry, along with nonfiction ghost books ever since. Her horror short story, “Bottled Spirits,” was a runner-up for the 2013 WSFA Small Press Award and is considered one of the seven best genre short fiction for that year. Her horror, fantasy, and science fiction stories, poetry and nonfiction articles were published in various anthologies and magazines, she has an urban fantasy novel, a science fiction novella, five nonfiction ghost books and a nonfiction book about shapeshifting cryptids in the United States. Her poem, “Dementia,” that was in the HWA Poetry Showcase Vol VII, got her a mention in Best Horror of the Years. Vol 13.

Pamela and her husband live with one crazy black cat (who thinks she should take precedence over her mistress’s writing most days). Along with writing, Pamela has acted on stage and film and investigates the paranormal for episodes of Paranormal World Seekers for AVA Productions. She is a member of both the Virginia Writers Club and Horror Writers Association. She is an Army veteran. You can learn more about her at

She has been published under the pen-name Porter Jenkins with The Minison Project: Sonnet Collection vol 4, and Wrong Turn Lit. Her Poetry Collection, Erotic Trauma, will be published with the Naked Cat in October 2023.

V.L. JonesV.L. Jones is a paranormal enthusiast and horror writer. She grew up in a haunted house in Washington State, which fueled her passion for the supernatural and monsters. Verona now lives in Tucson, Arizona, which she uses as her home base to explore haunted sites with a history.

Verona enlisted in the U.S. Navy out of high school in 1975 as a Cryptological Technical Technician (CTT), a nice way of saying a communications technician. Her first duty station was in the highlands of Scotland, and talk about hitting pay dirt. Scotland and England are about urban legends and ghostly hauntings. Fascinated by the history of these places, she often writes about her spooky findings.

Her explorations fuel her imagination, and she writes horror stories with elements of urban legends, cryptids, and folklore blended in. Verona loves anything about cryptids, such as Bigfoot, the Ozark Howler, The Black Dog, and the Mothman, to name a few. Verona also loves the paranormal and the supernatural worlds. As her schedule permits, she plots the next trip to a paranormal hotspot.
